Best Nightlife -(Bars)
Der Raum
(Nightlife - Bars)
438 Church StMelbourne 613 9428 0055
Description:
Widely regarded as the single best cocktail bar in Melbourne, Der Raum will amaze you not only with the scope of their drinks list but their exacting methodology. They use only freshly pressed juices, which means their cocktail menu is seasonal (no appletinis in the dead of winter or the heat of summer!), but the selection of cocktails that IS available at any given time is always astounding, and the creative and talented bartenders are always devising new concoctions. Be aware that there are a few "blacklisted" ingredients that they just won't use, such as cream, Red Bull, and Southern Comfort. Of course that shouldn't deter you in fact, most folks consider it a big bonus!
Gin Palace

Sexy and sleek, this cocktail bar boasts a rather seductive interior, with velvet drapes, cushy couches, upholstered walls, silk accents and low lighting. The clientele comes to see and be seen at this posh bar where the martinis reign supreme. Bartenders and cocktail waiters know their stuff, so ask for a suggestion as to which drink you should try first. Expect expert and gracious service. Jazz music sets the stage for romantic trysts and intimate conversations.

212 Little Collins StMelbourne 3000 613-9654-2471
Description:
A hybrid cafe and cocktail bar, the interestingly named Hairy Canary burns the candle at both ends, serving breakfast to early morning risers and cocktails to late night partiers. It's a popular gathering place for a diverse mix of clientele and boasts a fun-filled Latin flair. The menu has a Spanish influence with goodies such as Spanish paella, specialty pizzas, fresh seafood and salads. Drinks include cocktails, beer, spirits and wine.
Honky Tonks
(Nightlife - Bars)
Duckboard PlaceMelbourne 3000 613-9662-4555
Description:
A bizarre hodge-podge of decor, music and clientele, this bar seems to have what it takes to become a local favorite that's recommended time and again as a must-visit for out-of-towners. The interior space features a variety of themes, from Vegas glitz to tropical jungle, while the DJ's spin an eclectic mix of tunes; hip-hop and disco one night to soul and funk the next. A good sized floor calls dancers out, and drinks flow in abundance.
